A special edition Gold Plated Royal Quiet Deluxe typewriter produced in 1949. The last Royal Quiet Deluxe model was made in 1957. This gold plated edition was given as awards to Royal Typewriter Co. employees and also to students who won writing competitions sponsored by the company. Occasionally one will show up in the retail collectible market.

Ian Flemming is said to have acquired one of these gold plated models to write most of his James Bond stories. The actual one he used reportedly sold at auction for 5 figure sum.
